Pennsylvania has made $25 million in federal funding available to support the deployment of public electric vehicle charging stations across western counties through NEVI.
The funding represents the second phase of the state’s Community Charging initiative, which will direct a total of $100 million toward expanding EV charging infrastructure in communities across Pennsylvania. Eligible projects may include charging stations at publicly accessible locations throughout 17 counties in western Pennsylvania.
The new funding builds on nearly $62 million already committed through Pennsylvania’s NEVI program. The state currently has 37 federally funded charging stations in operation and another 55 stations in various stages of planning and construction. Since the first NEVI-funded station opened in Pennsylvania in 2023, the network has supported more than 106,000 charging sessions and facilitated an estimated 12.7 million miles of electric vehicle travel.
