The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has awarded nearly $10 million to support infrastructure upgrades at five public use airports across the Commonwealth. The funding will support terminal expansions, hangar construction, facility rehabilitation, and utility access improvements.
The projects include:
- Wilkes-Barre Scranton International Airport (Luzerne County): $6.2 million to expand the terminal and upgrade the TSA screening area.
- Lehigh Valley International Airport (Lehigh County): $1.5 million to construct a parking structure to support commercial terminal development.
- Quakertown Airport (Bucks County): $1.1 million to construct three new hangars.
- Doylestown Airport (Bucks County): $525,000 for hangar rehabilitation, $360,000 to extend public water access, and $157,500 to demolish four outdated structures.
- DuBois Regional Airport (Jefferson County): $225,000 to continue administration building renovations.
The state will fund the projects through the Capital Budget under the Aviation Transportation Assistance Program, supported by bond proceeds
