The New York State Environmental Facilities Corporation (EFC) Board has approved more than $153 million in low-cost financing and grants to support water and sewer infrastructure projects across the state. The funding will help more than two dozen communities upgrade aging systems, address contaminants, and improve wastewater treatment facilities.

The support combines state and federal resources, including the Clean Water and Drinking Water State Revolving Funds, which provide below-market financing. The package includes interest-free loans and grants through the Water Infrastructure Improvement program. Officials estimate the long-term financing approvals will save local ratepayers about $25.9 million in interest payments.

Projects receiving funding include:

  • Village of Brownville – $19.5 million for a new water storage tank and replacement of 28,000 feet of water main.
  • Village of St. Johnsville – $13.7 million for wastewater treatment plant improvements.
  • Village of Lake Placid – $12.5 million for wastewater treatment plant upgrades.
  • Town of Ellicott – $10 million for extension of public water service to the Fluvanna area.
  • Village of Rouses Point – $8 million for a new water filtration plant and pump station.

Dozens of additional communities will receive funding for system replacements, treatment upgrades, sanitary sewer improvements, and contaminant removal.

New York has invested $6 billion in clean water infrastructure since 2017, with $500 million allocated in the FY26 budget for further improvements.
