Boston Public Schools has awarded a $4 million contract to Orion Energy Systems to install electric vehicle charging infrastructure to support its school bus fleet.

The project includes installation of 105 DC fast charging stations and associated electrical infrastructure at the Freeport Bus Yard operated by Boston Public Schools. The work supports the district’s program to electrify its school bus fleet.

Orion’s Voltrek division is implementing the installation. The scope includes an above-ground mounting system using Jersey barriers, a design previously deployed at other Boston Public Schools facilities.

Construction is underway at the Freeport Bus Yard. The charging stations will support daily operations for electric school buses serving the district.
