Bangor International Airport has completed rehabilitation of its primary runway after two construction seasons. The project included full repaving and structural restoration of the airport’s more than 11,000-foot runway, which had reached the end of its service life.

The project cost more than $45 million and used a mix of federal, state, local, and military funding. Bangor International Airport implemented the work with support from state and federal partners.

The rehabilitated runway supports commercial flights, medical evacuation operations, cargo activity, and military aviation. The airport reported approximately 740,000 passengers in 2025 and expects traffic to approach one million passengers annually by 2030.
