Chesterfield County has awarded a $42 million construction contract to Wagman Heavy Civil for the $54 million Woolridge Road extension. The project will build 1.25 miles of new roadway between State Route 288 and Old Hundred Road to improve local connectivity.
The work includes a four-lane divided roadway, a new traffic signal at the Route 288 interchange, and a roundabout at Old Hundred Road. Crews will also construct a shared-use path and a sidewalk along the corridor. Right-of-way acquisition is complete.
Construction will begin in December 2025. The county expects completion by July 2028. The contract provides an incentive for early delivery between November 2027 and the scheduled end date. A 14-day closure at Woolridge Road and Old Hundred Road will occur during construction, while east–west routes will remain open.
The project uses state, local, and regional funding. The Central Virginia Transit Authority will supply 70% of total project funding.
