Henry County, Georgia, has approved multiple transportation projects totaling over $47 million to improve mobility and traffic flow across the county. At its June 17 meeting, the Board of Commissioners authorized contracts for resurfacing roads in three districts, widening Rock Quarry Road, and relocating utilities at a future roundabout.

Blount Construction Company received an $11.9 million contract to resurface roads across Districts 2, 3, and 4. The work, funded through SPLOST VI collections, will begin in early July. District 2 will see 50 roads resurfaced ($5.71 million), District 3 will resurface 30 roads ($2.46 million), and District 4 will address 23 roads ($3.78 million). Districts 1 and 5 were approved under a prior resolution.

The Board also approved a $35.3 million construction contract to Wilson Construction Management for widening a 2.6-mile stretch of Rock Quarry Road from Eagles Landing Parkway to North Henry Parkway. The project is a joint effort with the City of Stockbridge, which is contributing $4 million. The Georgia Department of Transportation will provide $20.4 million, and Henry County will fund the remaining $11 million through its TSPLOST program.

Additionally, the county approved a $258,695 intergovernmental agreement with the City of McDonough for utility relocation related to a planned roundabout at SR 20 and Hwy 155. Funding will be shared between the Henry County Water Authority and the city.
