The New York State Department of Transportation has launched two resurfacing projects in the Hudson Valley totaling $13.7 million. The work will improve mobility and road conditions on State Route 17 in Orange County and State Route 52 in Putnam County. Both projects are scheduled for completion in fall 2025.
A $9.7 million contract covers a five-mile segment of State Route 17 between Route 302 and the Sullivan County line in the Town of Wallkill. A separate $4 million project will resurface three miles of State Route 52 from Route 311 to the Dutchess County line in the Town of Kent.
The work includes milling and resurfacing with a fiber-reinforced warm-mix asphalt overlay designed for improved durability. Crews will install inlaid reflective striping, upgrade traffic signals, improve drainage, and bring existing curb ramps into compliance with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) guidelines.
Most construction will occur during overnight hours with single-lane closures to limit traffic disruptions.
