CSX has started repair work on the Gillett Road Bridge in the Town of Ogden, New York, following an 18-month closure due to structural deficiencies identified by the New York State Department of Transportation. The closure disrupted traffic patterns, delayed emergency response, and restricted access between Ogden and the Village of Spencerport.

The railroad company has hired Winn Construction Corporation to complete the work, which is expected to last six to eight weeks. Repairs will bring the bridge into compliance with NYSDOT safety standards.

The project follows a formal demand issued by Monroe County on June 5, requiring CSX to either repair or replace the bridge. CSX’s agreement to proceed with the repairs resolves a prolonged impasse that had impacted residents, local businesses, and emergency services.

The Gillett Road Bridge is one of the few north-south crossings over the Erie Canal in the area and serves as a key transportation route for the Greater Rochester community.
