New York State has launched $36.2 million in roadway resurfacing projects on Long Island to improve safety and travel conditions in Nassau and Suffolk counties. The work includes pavement renewal on the Northern State Parkway, State Route 25, and Sunrise Highway service roads.
The $18.5 million Northern State Parkway project will resurface about 50 lane miles from the New York Avenue overpass (Exit 40) in Huntington to the Wantagh State Parkway (Exit 33) in Westbury. Crews will work westbound through 2025 and complete eastbound lanes in 2026. Upgrades include new reflective pavement markings and 50 ADA-compliant sidewalk ramps.
A separate $17.7 million project will mill and resurface more than 60 lane miles along Sunrise Highway service roads and State Route 25. It includes upgrades to 180 sidewalk ramps and installation of new reflective pavement markings. Both projects are scheduled for completion by the end of 2026.
