San Antonio International Airport (SAT) has been awarded a $13.3 million grant from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) Airport Infrastructure Grant program. The funding supports Phase 4 of the airport’s new terminal development, a central component of the $2.5 billion Elevate/SAT expansion and capital improvement program.
Phase 4 construction activities include mass excavation, drilled piers, and design assist work for Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems and Baggage Handling Systems (BHS).
The new terminal will add 17 domestic and international gates and over 850,000 square feet of terminal space. An estimated 16,000 jobs are expected to be created over the life of the project, spanning skilled trades, engineering, and customer service roles. The terminal development is anticipated to generate $2.8 billion in economic impact and expand opportunities for local contractors, subcontractors, and vendors.
