The Port of Arthur has completed its $67 million Berth 6 expansion, adding 1,000 feet of dock designed to accommodate larger vessels and increase cargo throughput. The project includes 3,000 feet of on-dock rail and several acres of stabilized laydown space for cargo staging and handling.

A $20 million grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation’s BUILD program, awarded in 2018, supported the project. Collins Engineers Inc. provided design services, while Orion Construction, LP carried out the construction.

The new berth will enhance the port’s capacity to handle military cargo, liquid energy exports, and conventional break bulk shipments. The facility has been incorporated into the port’s Foreign Trade Zone and complements the planned federal deepening of the Sabine-Neches Waterway.
