The Port of Albany has received an $18.79 million grant through Empire State Development’s FAST NY Shovel-Ready program to fund utility infrastructure at its Beacon Island expansion site. The award will support installation of a high-voltage substation, a sanitary wastewater treatment plant, and components of the fire protection system.

The 85-acre graded site, located on the Hudson River with access to 115kV power lines, is being developed to attract large-scale manufacturers. The FAST NY grant addresses key electrification needs and long-lead items critical to advancing the site’s readiness.

This is the largest of seven awards totaling $32.6 million in the latest round of FAST NY funding. Total investment in the Port’s expansion has now reached nearly $178 million. The Port of Albany generates over $428 million in annual economic activity and supports approximately 1,400 local jobs.
