The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) opened two federally funded electric vehicle charging stations, raising the state’s total to 19 under the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) program. With this milestone, Pennsylvania now ties with Ohio for the most operational NEVI-funded sites nationwide.

The new chargers are located at Sheetz facilities in Altoona (Interstate 99, Exit 32) and York (Route 30/I-83, Exit 21). The 19 completed stations represent a federal investment of more than $10.5 million.

PennDOT has approved 90 active NEVI projects across 43 counties since 2023. These projects total $58.4 million in federal funding and focus on filling charging gaps along designated Alternative Fuel Corridors.
