Maryland will receive $60.3 million in federal funding to modernize bus service and transit operations. WMATA will use $50.3 million to purchase 50 diesel-electric hybrid replacement buses and reduce fuel consumption across its system. Charles County will use $10 million to build a new maintenance and operations facility for its VanGO transit network.

The U.S. Department of Transportation awarded the grants through the Low or No Emission Program and the Buses & Bus Facilities Program under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. The projects will support fleet replacement, improve service reliability, and upgrade essential transit infrastructure for communities across Maryland.
