The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has awarded $11.8 million to nine Louisiana airports through the Airport Infrastructure Grant program under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. The funding will support safety improvements, terminal modernization, and airfield upgrades across the state.
Allocations include:
- $6.6 million – Lafayette Regional/Paul Fournet Field (Lafayette Airport Commission): Shifting Taxiway B by 70 feet to meet current standards.
- $2.2 million – New Orleans Lakefront Airport (Lakefront Management Authority): Rehabilitation of 2,893 feet of Taxiway B.
- $1.0 million – Shreveport Regional Airport (Shreveport Airport Authority): Reconstruction of terminal chillers.
- $585,000 – John H. Hooks Jr. Memorial Airport (City of Rayville): Reconstruction of 3,998 feet of Runway 18/36.
- $426,000 – Port of South Louisiana Executive Regional Airport (Port of South Louisiana): Construction of an 8,400-square-foot hangar.
The projects are intended to improve safety, expand capacity, and modernize airport facilities across Louisiana.
