The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has selected Lane Construction as the preferred contractor for a $582 million segment of the Moving I-4 Forward program. The project will upgrade a key section of Interstate 4 in Osceola County.
The project scope includes reconstruction and widening of a 3.1-mile stretch of I-4 from east of County Road 532 to west of World Drive. The project will reconfigure the State Road 429 interchange and add new ramps connecting to State Road 538. It will also construct two new express lanes in each direction and expand the roadway to four general-purpose lanes and two express lanes per direction.
The project is part of the larger Moving Florida Forward Infrastructure Initiative. FDOT is delivering the contract using a modified phased design-build approach. Funding for the project comes from state transportation programs under FDOT. The broader program accelerates highway improvements across Central Florida to address long-term population growth and congestion.
