The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LaDOTD) has announced the commencement of a construction project valued at $3.3 million. This initiative will encompass a 2.59-mile stretch of Louisiana Highway (La.) 31, extending from La. 182 to La. 742, as well as the adjacent segment of La. 182 from La. 31 to E. Jefferson Street. The expected completion period is winter 2025/2026.
The construction activities will include grading, the installation of drainage structures, milling of asphalt concrete, pavement patching, roadway widening, application of a class II base course, installation of roadway reinforcing mesh, and the completion of an asphalt concrete overlay, along with other related tasks.
Work on La. 31, located east of I-49, will be conducted from Monday to Friday, between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., contingent upon weather conditions. Nighttime construction activities for the entire section of La. 182 and La. 31 west of I-49 will occur from Sunday to Thursday, running from 7:30 p.m. to 7 a.m., also subject to weather conditions.
Intermittent lane closures will be implemented, which may result in delays for motorists. While the road will remain accessible to regular traffic, oversized loads traversing the work zone will be subject to a maximum lane restriction of 12 feet. Emergency vehicles will retain access, although they may encounter delays.
