The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LA Metro) has selected Camber Charging to supply, install, and maintain 73 on-route charging systems across more than 20 locations as part of the agency’s transition to a zero-emission bus fleet.
The $58 million contract supports LA Metro’s broader electrification program ahead of the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Los Angeles. The transit agency expects increased ridership during the event period and plans to operate an expanded electric and low-emission bus network.
Camber Charging will deploy 360 kW charging systems using Power Electronics NBi 360 power cabinets paired with pantograph charging technology. The project scope includes installation, long-term maintenance, real-time monitoring systems, diagnostics, and energy management services through Camber’s charge management software platform.
The contract includes a six-year service agreement with a targeted charger availability rate of at least 98 percent. Camber stated that maintenance response times could be as short as two hours. LA Metro expects the first charging systems to be delivered in late 2026.
