Jacobs has secured multiple design contracts from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation to support modernization of the I-39/90/94 corridor. The program will upgrade one of the state’s busiest interstate routes between Madison and Wisconsin Dells.
The project will reconstruct and widen approximately 67 miles of interstate to address aging infrastructure and increasing traffic demand. Planned improvements include bridge replacements, interchange reconstruction, and development of three new interchanges. The program will also elevate sections of the roadway to reduce flood risks.
Jacobs will provide design services across multiple segments and serve as lead designer for Segment 3, which includes the I-39/I-90/94 system interchange. The corridor currently carries up to 109,000 vehicles per day and supports significant freight movement across the region.
Design work is expected to begin in 2026, with phased construction to follow. Final construction timelines will be determined as design progresses and funding is allocated. The modernization will improve safety, reduce congestion, and enhance freight mobility along a critical transportation corridor.
