The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) has announced a grant of $267.8 million to support the construction of the VIA Advanced Rapid Transit (ART) North–South Corridor, called the Green Line. The funding is made available through the Capital Investment Grants (CIG) program.
The 9.94-mile-long bus rapid transit (BRT) line serves the areas of Riverwalk and the Alamo, and the San Antonio International Airport. It will feature 8.077-mile-long dedicated bus lanes (DBLs), low-emission buses, priority signals, level boarding, and improved pedestrian facilities. The project is estimated to cost $481 million.
The line is expected to begin operations in 2029.
