Fort Worth has approved the 1,400-acre Alliance Logistics District to support Hillwood’s smart port development at AllianceTexas. The district allows autonomous vehicles, hostler trucks, and overweight freight loads to move between warehouses and the BNSF Alliance intermodal facility, which handles more than one million lifts each year. The changes aim to streamline cargo movements within the inland port.
Hillwood is advancing a $262 million smart port program that includes a connected bridge to State Highway 170, a 32-acre intermodal depot with BNSF, and expanded 5G capacity. The company is also building a $20 million private bridge over FM 156 to link industrial sites to the intermodal facility. Upcoming improvements include dedicated truck lanes and a container-tracking system.
AllianceTexas could support up to 14.9 million square feet of industrial space and serves as an inland gateway linked to major U.S. seaports.
