The Fort Wayne-Allen County Airport Authority has completed the expansion and renovation of Fort Wayne International Airport’s terminal in Indiana. The work forms part of Project Gateway, a multi-year effort to modernize airport infrastructure and expand passenger facilities.
The Airport Authority completed the terminal redevelopment in two phases. The West Terminal Expansion and Rehabilitation, completed in 2023, added two gates and new passenger boarding bridges. It also expanded airline ticketing areas and introduced a new baggage handling system.
The East Terminal Expansion began in 2023 and completed the terminal redevelopment. The project expanded the TSA security checkpoint, relocated aircraft gates and boarding bridges, and upgraded building systems. It also added restrooms, accessibility features, a service animal relief area, and a frequent flyer lounge. Airside improvements increased separation between aircraft taxiways and the terminal.
Project Gateway also includes apron improvements, parking lot rehabilitation, an expanded rental car return canopy, and a renewable solar energy project across the airport.
