Fluor has broken ground on the $671 million reconstruction and widening of a 12-mile segment of State Highway 6 (SH-6) in Bryan–College Station, Texas. The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) awarded the project earlier this year. Fluor will reconstruct the corridor and widen it from two to three lanes in each direction to improve mobility, freight movement, and emergency evacuation capacity.
The SH-6 corridor serves Texas A&M University and surrounding Brazos County communities. It is part of the Texas Highway Freight Network, the Texas Highway Trunk System, and a designated Hurricane Evacuation Route. The project aims to reduce congestion, enhance safety, and support regional growth across the Texas Triangle.
Reconstruction and widening activities are expected to finish by the end of 2030.
