The Federal Aviation Administration has awarded more than $2.6 million in Airport Improvement Program grants to airports across south central Kansas. The funding will support runway, taxiway, drainage, and airfield access projects at seven airports.
The grants will fund runway rehabilitation in El Dorado, Newton, and Pratt. Projects include concrete runway repairs, pavement reconstruction, and joint resealing to extend pavement life and reduce debris risks. Taxiway reconstruction and extensions will take place at Wichita’s Colonel James Jabara Airport, Anthony Municipal Airport, and Kingman/Clyde Cessna Field. The work will improve airfield access and bring facilities into compliance with current design standards.
The FAA is providing the funding through its Airport Improvement Program, which supports safety, capacity, and infrastructure upgrades at public-use airports.
