Omaha’s Eppley Airfield has substantially completed a $65 million all-weather canopy over Terminal Drive, marking a key milestone in its ongoing $950 million terminal expansion. The canopy improves passenger access and protection from weather, while supporting traffic flow and accessibility.

The terminal expansion, launched in early 2024, is now 38% complete. The project will increase terminal space from 375,000 to 646,000 square feet, unify the concourses, and expand the number of gates from 20 to 22. New concourse gates will be larger and designed to accommodate future growth.

The expansion includes a 33-foot-tall Central Pavilion, a 1.25-mile baggage handling system, and a major interior redesign with enhanced restrooms, escalators, elevators, and concessions. A new central utility plant is already operational.

Construction continues 24 hours a day, with over 400 workers on-site. The Omaha Airport Authority expects to complete the first phase by late 2027, with full completion in 2028. The project is funded through a mix of federal grants, passenger facility charges, and airport revenue bonds.
