ComEd and the Metropolitan Mayors Caucus expanded Illinois’ EV Readiness Program to include 16 northern Illinois communities. The program helps local governments plan for growing EV and charging demand.

New participants include Brookfield, Burr Ridge, Deerfield, Des Plaines, Downers Grove, Grayslake, Highland Park, Northbrook, Pingree Grove, Riverwoods, Sandwich, Streamwood, Vernon Hills, Winnetka, Woodridge, and the Blackhawk Hills Regional Council. Each will receive technical assistance to streamline permitting and update EV infrastructure policies.

Launched in 2022, the EV Readiness Program has now reached more than 50 communities. Participants complete policy and safety milestones to earn Bronze, Silver, or Gold certification.

ComEd also funds EV adoption rebates. Since 2024, it has awarded over $100 million, reserving half for low-income and equity investment eligible communities.
