The Charleston County Aviation Authority (CCAA) has selected STV to provide architectural and engineering support for major upgrades across Charleston International Airport (CHS), Charleston Executive Airport (JZI), and Mount Pleasant Regional Airport (LRO). The three-year contract is part of the Federal Aviation Administration’s Airport Improvement Program and aims to boost capacity, safety, and passenger experience.

STV will work as a key subconsultant to Holt Consulting Company to deliver a multimillion-dollar expansion program at CHS, South Carolina’s busiest airport, which handled 6.3 million passengers in 2024. Planned improvements include temporary and permanent concourses, new gates, expanded aircraft parking, a rental car pavilion, additional passenger amenities, and upgraded TSA and customs facilities. The CHS expansion is expected to increase airport capacity by 20–30 per cent. STV is also currently supporting Boeing’s Charleston Airport Campus adjacent to CHS.

The Federal Aviation Administration awarded CHS a $23 million Airport Improvement Program grant in early 2024 to fund construction of a new apron and max out an initial six-gate concourse. The CCAA also plans to finance additional facilities—including parking and a rental car pavilion—through revenue bond proceeds as part of a broader expansion valued at over $300 million
