The State of California has announced an investment of nearly $1 billion to enhance its transportation infrastructure, focusing on climate resilience, clean energy, and improved mobility. The California Transportation Commission (CTC) approved the funding, which includes $623 million from the federal Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) and $264 million from Senate Bill 1 (SB 1).

Key projects include $15 million for electric bus charging infrastructure in San Mateo County, $9.5 million for pedestrian and cyclist safety upgrades along SR-82 in Santa Clara County, and $6 million for a new light rail station at Sacramento City College. Additionally, $114,000 will support service bays for Humboldt County’s fuel-cell electric buses. District 9 projects feature $7.44 million for pavement rehabilitation in Bishop and $1.02 million for emergency culvert repairs in Mammoth Lakes.

These investments aim to improve California’s transportation system’s sustainability, safety, and economic equity while supporting climate change mitigation efforts.
