Baltimore/Washington International (BWI) Thurgood Marshall Airport will begin an $83.8 million rehabilitation of Runway 10-28 on July 22. The project will upgrade the airport’s 10,500-foot primary commercial runway through milling, paving, and the installation of a new LED runway lighting system. Construction is scheduled for completion on October 8.
The Maryland Board of Public Works approved the construction contract in March 2026. The project is funded through the Federal Aviation Administration’s Airport Infrastructure Grant program and the Maryland Transportation Trust Fund. A joint venture of Allan Myers and P. Flanigan & Sons will carry out the rehabilitation work, while Glenelg Construction will complete the electrical upgrades.
The rehabilitation will improve the long-term safety, reliability, and operational performance of BWI Marshall Airport. The airport serves approximately 300 daily nonstop flights to 92 domestic and international destinations and supports more than 107,000 jobs across the region.
