BNSF Railway will open a 42-acre intermodal facility in Oklahoma City this November. The site will create a new rail option for containers moving from the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach. BNSF developed the project with Hobby Lobby. The retailer will use the site to streamline shipments to its local distribution network.

The facility could eventually remove up to 40,000 truck trips a year from Interstate 35 by shifting freight to rail. BNSF also expects Oklahoma farmers and other businesses to use the site for exports to the West Coast.
