Bastrop County has received a $43 million state grant to expand high-speed internet to 10,471 previously unserved homes and businesses. The Texas Broadband Development Office awarded the funding through the Bringing Online Opportunities to Texas (BOOT II) program. Highline, the selected internet service provider, will deploy fiber-to-the-premise service and invest an additional $11 million.

Construction is underway, and full deployment is expected by the end of 2026. The project will extend reliable high-speed internet to households and businesses that lacked service, improving access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunities.

The BOOT II program awarded $424 million in its second funding round and supports broadband infrastructure in underserved areas. The initiative totals $701.9 million statewide.
