Austin Transit Partnership (ATP) has selected AECOM as the delivery partner for Phase 1 of Project Connect, which will introduce a 9.94-mile-long light rail transit (LRT) system in Austin. The LRT line will serve 15 stations, providing connectivity from the North Lamar Transit Centre to Stassney and Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.
The scope of work includes program management oversight and initiation, environmental services, design management, rail activation, and operational readiness.
AECOM will lead a technical team of sub-consultants, including Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) firms.
The project is part of the Austin Strategic Mobility Plan (ASMP), which aims to enhance the accessibility, reliability, and connectivity of the transportation network. It is expected to have a daily ridership of 28,500 users. The project development phase is expected to be completed in 2026. Service is expected to commence in 2033.
