The Arizona Department of Transportation has selected Sundt Construction as the highest-ranking contractor for the $396 million State Route 347 Improvement Project between Interstate 10 and the City of Maricopa.
The project will upgrade a 15-mile corridor through Maricopa and Pinal counties, primarily within the Gila River Indian Community. Planned work includes adding one travel lane in each direction, rehabilitating existing pavement, building grade-separated interchanges at Riggs Road and Mammoth Way, and adding turn lanes and intersection improvements at Casa Blanca Road and Maricopa Road.
ADOT will negotiate a preconstruction services contract with Sundt, with final execution expected in February 2026. The preconstruction phase will allow the contractor to provide design and constructability input before full construction begins.
The project carries a total programmed cost of $396 million. Funding comes from the State of Arizona, the Maricopa Association of Governments, the City of Maricopa, and Pinal County. Construction is expected to begin in summer 2026 and continue for approximately three years.
The improvements will increase roadway capacity, reduce congestion, and improve safety and traffic flow along one of the primary commuter corridors south of the Phoenix metropolitan area.
