The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA) has awarded $2.26 million to support the installation of electric vehicle charging stations at six sites across the state. Funding is provided through the Alabama Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Program.

Five grants have been awarded to Universal EV LLC to install dual charging stations at hotels in Huntsville, Hoover, Tuscaloosa, and Mobile. A sixth grant was awarded to Silver Comet Energy for a RaceTrac fuel and convenience store in Huntsville.

The projects are intended to support both travelers and local drivers, with public access charging located at hotels and commercial sites. Charging station installations will include Hampton Inn, Embassy Suites, Microtel Inn, Springhill Suites, and Homewood Suites properties.
