The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) has opened a new $30 million funding round under NEVI. The funding will support the development of electric vehicle charging stations across Illinois. Applications are due by July 20, and IDOT expects to announce selected locations by the end of August.
The fourth funding round features a simplified application process. Applicants must submit a proposed site location, a map, a basic site schematic, photos, and responses to project questions. Projects may serve passenger vehicles as well as medium- and heavy-duty vehicles.
The program will fund the installation of DC fast chargers, Level 2 chargers, or a combination of both. All projects must comply with federal NEVI program requirements. IDOT will review all submissions and may request additional information before making final selections.
IDOT will host an informational webinar on July 8 to explain the funding opportunity and application process. The department also plans to open a standard Notice of Funding Opportunity later this year.
