Airports across Louisiana will receive $14.8 million in federal funding to support infrastructure upgrades and operational improvements. The funding will enhance terminal facilities, expand airfield infrastructure, and improve safety and efficiency at multiple locations statewide.
The project scope includes terminal reconstruction in New Orleans and Shreveport, construction of new aircraft hangars, pavement rehabilitation, drainage improvements, and expansion of fuel infrastructure. Key upgrades include installation of automated passenger exit lanes at the north terminal in Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport and reconstruction of terminal space at Shreveport Regional Airport.
The Federal Aviation Administration is administering the funding. Local entities, including airport authorities and municipal governments, will implement individual projects. The upgrades will improve passenger processing, increase aircraft storage capacity, and enhance airport safety standards.
