Turner Construction Company has topped out the new Tier-2 Concourse East at Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD), marking the completion of vertical construction. The 449,930-square-foot facility will replace outdated ground-level boarding areas with a modern, 14-gate concourse designed for regional flight operations.

The project is being implemented in partnership with the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA) and PGAL. It is constructed directly above the active AeroTrain station, requiring uninterrupted operation of the airport’s automated people mover system throughout the build.

The new concourse will include ADA-compliant restrooms, new elevators and escalators, expanded retail and dining spaces, airline lounges, and enhanced aircraft servicing infrastructure. The design prioritizes passenger comfort and sustainability.

Full airport operations have been maintained during construction. The concourse is expected to be completed by September 2026.
