The Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) will begin construction to widen State Highway 55 from Farmway Road to Middleton Road using Leading Idaho funds.
This project will:
- Expand SH-55 to four lanes and add dedicated left and right turn lanes at major intersections, along with wider shoulders.
- Install a raised median from 10th Avenue to Middleton Road, restricting access at unsignalized intersections every half mile. Drivers will only be able to turn right or left onto side streets, preventing left turns from side streets onto the highway.
- Build a separated bicycle and pedestrian pathway on both sides of SH-55 and a pedestrian undercrossing east of 10th Avenue near Vallivue Middle School.
- Upgrade signal equipment at major intersections.
- Construct soundwalls at Crestwood Estates, Fieldcrest Village, and Lakeview Apartments.
- Pave a frontage road west of 10th Avenue on the north side of the highway.
