The New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) has awarded a $182 million contract to Tectonic Engineering to lead construction management (CM) services for the Second Avenue Subway Phase 2 (SAS II) project. The $7.7-billion project will add a new subway line along Manhattan’s east side that will improve connectivity and access to public transport. It will extend the Q train from 96 Street to 125 Street in Harlem, serving three stations that comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

The scope of work includes relocation of all underground utilities of water, sewer, communication, and electrical lines and shifting of a sensitive oil-o-static line providing high voltage transmission services. The works will complement the construction works, undertaken by C.A.C. Industries.

The works are expected to be completed in 2026.
