Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT) is 80 per cent complete and is set to open in 2025. Escalators have been installed, a state-of-the-art baggage system tested, and initial ceiling tiles have been placed. Externally, workers have installed the final curtainwall glass. One key feature includes a bridge and tunnel seamlessly linking the new terminal to the current airside terminal.
In early 2025, crews will finalize interior details, including airline ticket counters, a new security checkpoint, and the connector bridge. The baggage system, baggage claim belts, rental car desks, and a new parking garage will be fully operational. Roadways, wayfinding signs, and critical systems will undergo thorough testing before it is open to passengers.
Built by Pittsburghers for Pittsburghers, the project has created an estimated 14,300 jobs and generated $2.5 billion in economic activity, using 85 per cent locally sourced materials.
