Wisconsin will distribute more than $282 million to 74 municipalities through the Safe Drinking Water Loan Program. The funding will support water system upgrades and treatment projects addressing contaminants such as PFAS, nitrates, and lead.
Allocations include nearly $2 million for Fairchild to address nitrate contamination, almost $5 million for Hales Corners to treat PFAS, and about $1.3 million for Suring to improve system reliability. Funds will be released as project costs occur.
A significant share of the total comes from federal sources, including $42.6 million from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. The state will finalize the 2026 funding list after a 30-day review period.
