West Star Aviation has begun construction on a $32 million expansion of its maintenance, repair, and overhaul campus at Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport.

The project will add a new Hangar 26 and expand Hangar 27, increasing the campus to approximately 400,000 square feet. West Star expects to complete construction by February 2027.

Hangar 26 will add about 40,000 square feet of hangar space and 15,000 square feet of office and shop areas. The facility will include climate-controlled aircraft interior storage, an overhead crane, and fire-rated document rooms. West Star will also expand Hangar 27 with a two-story, 30,000-square-foot addition to consolidate accessories, composite, and sheet metal operations.

The expansion targets increased demand for maintenance services for larger business aircraft and aims to reduce aircraft downtime by centralizing specialized functions.

The company expects the project to support up to 200 new skilled technician jobs over the next five years. The Chattanooga site currently employs more than 500 workers.
