Ports of Indiana has extended its partnership with Metro Ports for five more years, continuing their collaboration at the Burns Harbor bulk terminal on Lake Michigan. The agreement supports long-term growth in cargo handling and supply chain services at the port.

Metro Ports has operated the facility since 2017, managing bulk shipments that include metals, agricultural goods, and industrial minerals. Burns Harbor moves around 3 million tons of cargo annually and links maritime, rail, and inland waterway networks to serve key Midwest industries.

With recent and planned infrastructure improvements at the port, both parties aim to strengthen terminal efficiency and increase capacity for bulk customers. The renewal also reinforces Metro Ports’ role in supporting Indiana’s position within domestic and international trade routes.
