The Port of New Orleans, Ports America, and Terminal Investment Limited have formed Louisiana International Terminal Holdings LLC to operate the planned Louisiana International Terminal (LIT) in St. Bernard Parish. The newly incorporated joint venture will manage terminal operations once the facility becomes operational.
The Louisiana International Terminal project involves the development of a next-generation container facility designed to handle larger vessels and increase cargo throughput along the Gulf Coast. Port of New Orleans will lead design and construction, while the joint venture will oversee long-term operations and coordination.
Funding for the project will include a combination of public investment and private sector participation through the joint venture structure. The terminal aims to increase export capacity, improve supply chain efficiency, and strengthen the port’s ability to handle larger container vessels.
At full buildout, the project is expected to generate approximately $33.3 million in annual tax revenue for St. Bernard Parish and supports more than 4,300 jobs locally.
