Port Canaveral is undertaking a $500 million capital investment plan over five years to modernize cruise terminals, expand cargo capacity, and improve public amenities. Funded entirely through port revenues, the initiative marks the largest multi-sector infrastructure program in the port’s recent history.
The upgrades will include major expansions to Cruise Terminals 3, 5, and 10. Terminal 5 will increase in size by 65 per cent under a design led by BEA Architects, with operations continuing during the estimated 16-month construction timeline. A feasibility study for Terminal 10 will be completed by June, with plans to accommodate ships up to 1,200 feet in length and 5,600 passengers. Terminal 1 will also receive exterior improvements including canopies, landscaping, and lighting upgrades.
On the cargo side, the port is enhancing southside piers for multipurpose use and improving vessel turn times. North Cargo Berths 3 and 4 are being renovated to add 1,800 feet of new bulkhead space. Additional work includes dredging, seawall upgrades, and the arrival of a third mobile harbor crane. Roadway improvements are also underway to ease congestion around cargo terminals.
Jetty Park will receive new visitor facilities, including guest cabins, a camp store, and a dog park, while Rodney Ketchum Park will see redesigned boat ramps. Enhancements are also planned for The Cove’s entrance and landscaping.
