The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation will invest nearly $53 million in 30 rail freight infrastructure projects across Pennsylvania to improve freight mobility and support an estimated 450 jobs.

The projects will receive funding through the Rail Transportation Assistance Program (RTAP) and the Rail Freight Assistance Program (RFAP). The investments will support track rehabilitation, bridge repairs, siding construction, grade crossing upgrades, and yard improvements across multiple counties.

Projects span public and private rail operators, short-line railroads, industrial facilities, and port-related infrastructure. Work includes rail and tie replacement, turnout upgrades, bridge rehabilitation, new sidings and spurs, and improvements to transloading and unloading facilities. The projects are distributed across more than 20 counties, including Allegheny, Berks, Blair, Cambria, Dauphin, Lancaster, Luzerne, Philadelphia, Washington, Westmoreland, and York counties.
