The Foothill Gold Line light-rail transit (LRT) project from Glendora to Pomona, California, reached substantial completion in January 2025. The project has now been handed over to the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (L.A. Metro) for final testing and preparation before passenger service begins. While L.A. Metro has not yet announced an exact opening date, passenger service is expected to start in the summer of 2025. The line will connect the cities of Glendora, San Dimas, La Verne, and Pomona.
Over the past five years, the design-build team of Kiewit-Parsons, a joint venture, completed the project with over 2.6 million work hours. The development included the construction of four new stations, 19 bridges, 21 grade crossings, a new light-rail system, and 9 miles of relocated freight track. Additionally, 10 miles of decorative retaining walls and sound walls were built to enhance the project’s functionality and aesthetic.
