New York will invest $150 million to connect the Long Island Rail Road’s (LIRR) Ronkonkoma Station to the planned North Terminal at MacArthur Airport. This initiative aims to enhance accessibility and strengthen Long Island’s transportation infrastructure while modernizing MacArthur Airport.

Building on a previous commitment of $40 million for the North Terminal, the project will include a pedestrian walkway linking the airport to the LIRR station, improved roadways, and essential infrastructure upgrades. These enhancements will streamline travel, improve the passenger experience, and position MacArthur Airport as a major transportation hub.

Since its establishment as a military airfield in 1942, MacArthur Airport has played a vital role in Suffolk County’s transit network. This investment not only bolsters infrastructure but also supports economic development, tourism, and Long Island’s overall growth strategy.
