Minnesota has received approval for $652 million in federal funding to implement its Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) program. The National Telecommunications and Information Administration approved the state’s final proposal, clearing the way for broadband deployment statewide.
The funding will support expansion of high-speed internet service to unserved and underserved areas across Minnesota. The program targets infrastructure deployment to improve access to reliable and affordable broadband, particularly in rural and hard-to-reach communities.
The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development will oversee implementation of the BEAD program in coordination with internet service providers and local partners.
